SFCARD works with human service agencies serving vulnerable populations in San Francisco to ensure business continuity after a disaster. 

SFCARD assists agencies of all sizes to:

1.      survive disaster;

2.      provide uninterrupted services to their clients; and

3.      coordinate resources for long term recovery.

Since 1994, SFCARD has provided extensive disaster preparedness training, on-site agency visits and has undertaken a variety of coordination initiatives to support the capacity of local agencies and the vulnerable populations that they serve. 

Apart from the free monthly training for all service agencies in San Francisco, recent and on-going special projects include: 

1.      Development of an ‘Agency Emergency Plan’ template complete with exercises, training tips and worksheets.

2.      SF Food Conference”, the first of it’s kind, the SFCARD Disaster Food Conference addressed issues related to food preparation and delivery after a major disaster.

3.   San Francisco CARD, in partnership with HELPLINK and the Volunteer Center is working a creating a Disaster Database to assist Health and Human Service agencies before, during, and after a disaster

SFCARD works closely with local, State and Federal officials to achieve it’s objectives and maintains a seat in the City and County Office of Emergency Services to coordinate resources in a disaster.
